LABOR DAY

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

It is appropriate for our nation to pay tribute on Labor Day to the creator of so much of the nation's strength, freedom, and leadership - the American worker.

We at the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office know that many people throughout the United States will be traveling to celebrate the holiday. We want to remind everyone to travel safely - remember to wear your seatbelt, wash your hands frequently, and do not drink and drive.

If you plan to participate in water activities such as swimming, boating, or floating, be sure to wear a life jacket and be aware of boating safety laws. Also, do not operate a boat while intoxicated.

We wish everyone a safe and fun holiday weekend! Please celebrate responsibly.

Sheriff Billy Sollie

Have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!
