On Friday, December 22nd at 7:40 p.m., deputies with the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office Department were conducting a Roadside Safety Checkpoint at the intersection of Poplar Springs Drive and Buntin Gunn Road when a vehicle was seen turning around prior to the checkpoint. A deputy pursued the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. After a brief conversation with the driver and providing him with his Miranda warnings the driver then fled on foot. The deputy pursued the driver and was able to physically apprehend him. After a brief struggle he was taken into custody. The driver was identified as Alvin Lamar Davis, 25 years old of the Lauderdale community.
